WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1943 Field Cap- This example is produced in Luftwaffe blue/grey lightweight cloth. These are sometimes referred to as Luftwaffe Flak Helper’s caps. There is moderate discoloration and wear from use, but no damage. Hand applied, and we believe collector done, to the front peak is a Luftwaffe trapezoidal, one-piece insignia with machine embroidered silvery-grey eagle and red/white/black cockade. This is over a blue/grey badge cloth backing. The flaps are connected at the front by a pair of blue/grey finished pebbled metal buttons. The bill shows the commonly found “folds” in the inner material, giving it a lumpy feel and appearance. The interior shows minor discoloration from use. It is fully lined in light grey/gold rayon. It is lightly stamped with a size, which is 57. A sound, representative example!
