This overcoat belonged to Luftwaffe Generalleutnant Kurt Menzel and came straight out of his estate in March 2015. Here is a page containing all of the information on Menzel:

A pair of his breeches were also part of the estate and we have offered them as well. We purchased them from the individual who got them from the estate; as such they have never before been in a collection. The coat is produced in top quality, soft blue grey wool. It remains super clean! There are multiple areas, mostly confined to the lower 1/3rd of the coat, that have tracking and moth holes. There are other areas as well but most of this is located in the lower portion. See the pics for the best description. There are french cuffs and hip pockets with straight flaps. It is double breasted with two rows of six gilt finished pebbled buttons. The underside of the lapel is finished in white badge cloth that is in great condition. The beautiful collar tabs are produced in white badge cloth. The wreath, twin gulls and mesh piping are all gold wire with bullion highlights. The tabs were stitched down at each corner before finishing up the application with a machine. There is a single nip to each tab. The sew in shoulder boards have white badge cloth backing with silver and gold bullion braid. The single, large pip indicates the rank of Generalleutnant. The interior is fully lined in blue rayon that is excellent. The seam on the left side has opened but there is no damage, per se. There are two interior pockets, one on each side. The inside of the left side pocket has a tailor tag which indetifies the tailor as. Zöltsch Nachf., Würzburg. This is the same as the tailor of his breeches. The general’s name is written by hand as Menzel, Oberst. The date is March 1939. Just like in his breeches, Menzel must have ordered it when he was still an "Oberst" knowing of his promotion to a Generalmajor. There is a large tailor tag in the neck area. Ther is a sword strap on the lower left. The coat is a size medium (Sleeves: 67cm. Shoulders: 52cm. Length: 136cm). A fantastic opportunity to own a named, identified, right out of the woodwork Luftwaffe generals coat that has never before been in a collection!
