Japanese Sake Cup

This piece measures 3 7/8” round 1 ¼” high (9.6cm x 3.2cm) and is made of white porcelain. This example is excellent, with just minor wear and discoloration to the base. Inside the cup, in a gold leaf, writing indicates this was presented to a Veteran Japanese soldier upon his retirement from active duty. The “fan” has a Japanese samurai poem. The maker’s name, Sakazuki, is also seen.  The recipient’s name, Mr. Hoshino, is inscribed on the inside of the base, along with “presented to”. A wonderful example!
