Japanese Sake Cup

This piece measures 3 1/8” round by 1 ½” deep (8.2cm x 3.8cm) and is made of white porcelain. This example is excellent, with just minor wear to the gilt line around the rim and minor discoloration to the base.  Inside the cup, in a gold leaf, writing indicates this was presented to a Japanese soldier who served during WWII with the 50th Heavy Weapons Unit. His name is written under the base, “Mr. Narishima”.  A great example!
