This interesting variant has a very intriguing characteristic….the decal is “doubled up” i.e. there is one on top of the other! I have not seen this before, it is very unique. The finish on this example is blue/gray and remains 80% intact. There is a brown leather liner that is in good condition with minor wear, discoloration and scuffing from use. The liner band is non reinforced zinc. It is size stamped (64 shell/57 liner) as well as maker marked and dated, 1940. The side of the interior is stamped ET 64, indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in the size 64. The rear of the skirt is stamped with the steel lot number 1823, indicating production in 1942. A very nice, brown leather chinstrap (maker marked and dated) with metal fittings is also included. One of the “d” rings for the chinstrap has a small piece of black rayon tied to it. An interesting example in good condition!
