WWII German Gorget for Feldjägerkorps- Extremely rare gorget. Seldom offered on the market. This is a very sound example with the vast majority of the luminous paint still in place. The plate itself is made is made of sheet metal and is magnetic. This exact Gorget was used for the 2012 book on Gorgets in the Third Reich by Wim Saris. Saris mentions examples made of both zinc and sheet metal. The scroll has some oxidation, but this should not get any worse. The backing on this example is a stiff cardboard, and the main boss/clip is Assman marked. The chain is sheet metal and it, along with the links, is magnetic. The chain is complete but missing its finish, which at one time would have been a silver paint. This is the only example of this style gorget that I have ever owned but obviously comes with my written lifetime guarantee regarding originality.. Overall condition strong/very good.
