WWII German Early SA Dagger by Wagner & Lange (SCARCE Maker)- This is a very nice example of Nazi SA Dagger produced by a SCARCE maker!  Enjoy!  The guards are the solid nickel variety having been cleaned in recent years.  They retain nice smooth surfaces and crisp edges with precise accent grooves.  They are internally marked with the caster’s mark “P.A.”, which is one of the two accepted caster marks found on Wagner & Lange pieces.  The reverse guard is stamped with the Gau-mark Ns.  The grip is a most pleasing chestnut brown color, having a high contour ridge with an outstanding vertical grain.  In fact, there is a very faint Tiger stripe in a few areas.  Beautiful!  The grip-to-guard fit could NOT be better, as is the placement of the eagle and button.  Although the overall wood shows NO wear/age, there is a tiny chip missing from the right lower obverse and reverse edges.  Sounds much worse then it really looks!  The SA runes button is the flat style.  There are a couple of faint surface chips and light scratches.  The nickel grip eagle is the upward pointing beak style, showing minor highlight wear to the chest and wings.  The blade is bright and shiny with 100% crossgraining.  The edges remain factory crisp while the tip has a faint hit which could easily be repaired, although I would leave it as is!  The SA motto “Alles fur Deutschland” is still crisp with all the backgrounding present.  The runner marks are faint!  The blade grades near mint-!  The reverse ricasso is matching etched with this SCARCE maker’s logo.  It consists of double oval circles which traps the firm’s name and location positioned between the circles “Wagner & Lange / Solingen”.  Inside the center oval is the company logo consisting of an arrow piercing the bull’s eye of a very unusual target.  The scabbard shell is straight throughout!  The anodizing grades 96% while the factory lacquer grades 90%.  Very nice!  The nickel fittings perfectly match the look of the hilt.  The upper fitting displays NO real wear/age while the lower fitting houses light taps throughout all sides.  The ball has taken some hard hits being almost perfectly flat.  The original four nickel domehead side screws are in place and turned.  GREAT looking example by a SCARCE maker!  Strong excellent.
