This handsome banner is produced with a field of white cloth that has minor discoloration, wear and a few very small holes/tears. One side of the banner has a simple, black machine embroidered cloth script that reads “Inf.Rgt. 116” surrounded on each side by machine embroidered silver cloth oak leaf sprigs. The sprigs commence at the bottom in a ribbon tied in a bow. The opposite side has a fancy Army style eagle of toned silver tresse, highlighted by black cloth. Each of the bottom corners has a blue cloth shield bearing a red/white striped lion holding a sword and wearing a crown of gold. Each of the top corners has machine embroidered gold cloth script that reads “J.R. 116” surrounded by silver cloth machine embroidered oak leaf sprigs. Both sides of the banner have a wide, golden tresse around the entire perimeter. All but the top of the banner has a toned silver metallic frill, which is mostly intact. The hoist end originally has a pair of loops, which would have attached to the trumpet but these are only partially intact. The banner measures 18.5” wide by 19” tall (47cm x 48.25cm). Very sound overall condition, and will make for a wonderful display!
