WWII German Army Pioneer Officer's Private Purchase Visor Cap-This great looking cap is produced in very soft, good quality wool that is near excellent with just the slightest hint of wear and discoloration. There is black wool piping around the top panel and on the top and bottom of the dark green badge cloth center band. It has a high, prominent peak. There is a beautifully toned, silver bullion eagle/swastika over dark green badge cloth. The cockade is also beautifully toned bullion (over dark green badge cloth) with a metal cockade/red felt bulls eye. Each is hand applied to the cap. The officer, silver bullion double chin cord is in great condition, being tightly affixed to the cap by a pair of nickel silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The vulkanfibre visor is in great condition with just minor crazing. The underside of the visor is finished in a cream hue. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon that is in fantastic condition. There is a rhomboid shaped, clear moisture shield with the nomenclature of the maker, which I am not familiar with. The cap is a large size, 60 or so. The light brown leather sweatband is excellent, with minor discoloration only. The stitch in the back has come apart that holds the ends together but this is not an issue. Excellent and scarcely found!
