Army Officer’s Visor Cap for Smoke Troops- Rare piping on an interesting looking cap. The insignia is the private purchase silver bullion eagle and wreath. The cockade is metal. The crimson piping, along with the body of the cap, is in excellent condition on the exterior. The silver bullion chinstrap is attached by two silver pebbled buttons. The interior of this size 55 cap has all the components and characteristics of an “other ranks” visor, so this may very well be an honest to goodness field upgrade to officer. The rhomboid moisture shield is intact, but the chintz lining has a section that is missing. The underside of the sweatband is maker marked and dated 1939. An overall very interesting piece in near excellent condition.
