This is one in a number of different tinnies produced after the death of the founder and first Gauleiter of Gau Oberfranken (capital: Bayreuth), Hans Schemm. This former Freikorps fighter and virulent party man died as a result of a plane crash in 1935 at the age of 44. Hitler even sent a specialist from Berlin to help him, but Schemm died prior to this doctor’s arrival (the “+” in the inscription indicates “died”). The piece is stamped from a thin brass sheet and is a very detailed, full side head profile. The piece has a nice patina. The pin on the reverse works perfectly.
