WWII German Police Gendarmerie NCO Great Coat-This is for a rural police NCO and is in the Model 1940 style. The coat is produced in blue green wool that, aside from the expected minor wear and discoloration, is in fine condition. There are hip pockets with straight flaps. There are two rows of six silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The cuffs have been modified by what we believe is the addition of a short section of wool to give them the look of a French cuff. There is a belt in the back with silver finished pebbled metal buttons. There are slip on shoulder boards with orange cloth backings. The face is silver flat wire/brown cloth braid with stitched brown cloth "v's". A note about the shoulder boards: at some point someone added straps to allow slip on boards to be used. We are not sure when. It is neat and well done but not original. The sleeve eagle is machine embroidered in orange over blue green wool. It is hand applied and we believe reapplied. The interior is fully lined in grey rayon. There is some minor wear, a few holes and a few small stains. There is a repair to the rayon on the upper left chest area. There are two large pockets. It is a good size 40 which will fit a mannequin in the 5' 10" to 6' range. Good condition overall!
