WWII German Model 1940 Army Camouflage Helmet, Named, Never Before in a Collection-This great example has the desirable “Normandy” camouflage scheme of red, tan and green. The camouflage finish remains a respectable 75% intact. The interior features a well used brown leather liner which is a size 59. There is moderate discoloration and wear, with heavy scuffing at the front and rear edges. There is a drawstring and a non reinforced zinc liner band. The owner wrote his name, Gleisner, onto the liner. He definitely put this helmet to good use! He also very neatly wrote his name in white paint on the rear skirt. The rear skirt is stamped Q 66 indicating this was produced by Quist of Esslingen in the size of 66. The rear skirt is also stamped with the production lot number DN 402. There is a brown leather chinstrap that is in great condition as well. An untouched, right out of the woodwork example that has never been in a collection!
