Third Reich Model 1916 Reichsbahn Double Decal Helmet, RARE-Rare is an understatement! This is missing from most collections. Originally produced as a combat helmet in WWI, this was reissued as a Reichsbahn helmet during the period of the Third Reich. It is a Germany produced example. The original finish is visible inside the dome along with the handwritten name of one of the wearers. The reissue blue finish is very nice, checking in at 80% intact. The left side has a bordered black decal of the Reichsbahn, with a black bordered party shield on the left side. The party shield is 50% intact, the Reichsbahn is 85% intact. As mentioned, the original finish is visible in the dome with the blue finish extended from the exterior down to the brown leather liner band. The thin ersatz leather three pad liner is in place. It is fully intact but curled up from age. The ends of each side of the chinstrap are present but the rest is missing. The side of the interior is stamped G 62 indicating production by Gebrüder Gnüchtel of Lauter/Sachsen in the size of 62. An extremely scarce helmet in fine condition overall!
