WWII German Luftwaffe Honor Goblet-Awarded to Oberleutnant (then leutnant) Otto Ertel-Ertel served with JG 77 (Ace of spades) in the battle of Norway and later in France. Ertel later served in JG 300 as a night fighter under Hermann Hajo. He flew BF109 and FW190 and had 12 victories. The engraving around the bottom reads:

LEUTNANT OTTO ERTEL AM 1.9.42.

The underside of the goblet is marked "Feinsilber Alpaka Auflage" as well as JOH.WAGNER & SOHN (manufacturer). There are definitely signs of toning and minor wear. It has not been cleaned and we recommend leaving it that way. There are a few minor bends in the base as is common on these goblets. It stands perfectly and only will wobble when provoked to do so. Here is a list of Oblt. Ertels promotions:

12.04.1940, Feldwebel, 6./J.G. 77, Hampden

24.06.1940, Feldwebel, 6./J.G. 77, Blenheim

15.02.1941, Oberfeldwebel, 5./J.G. 77, Beaufort

30.07.1943, Oberleutnant, II./Kdo. Herrmann, Lancaster

30.07.1943, Oberleutnant, II./Kdo. Herrmann, Lancaster

28.08.1943, Oberleutnant, 5./J.G. 300, Viermot

Very desirable example!
