WWII German Reichsbahn Visor Cap-This is produced in dark blue wool that displays some discoloration and wear mostly to the top panel. The black badge cloth center band is piped in red, no problems here to report. There is a Reichsbahn eagle in zinc which is missing all of its gilt finish. Also seen is a metal cockade with red felt bulls eye. There double chin cord is produced in blue cloth which is interwoven with gold cloth. There are small, gilt finished pebbled metal buttons that affix the chin cord to the cap. The vulkanfibre visor has minor crazing and fading. The underside of the visor is crosshatched and finished in an orange/brown hue which has moderate discoloration. The top of the cap is lined in a tangerine colored chintz oil cloth fabric, which is in great condition with minor discoloration. The sides of the cap are unlined. The diamond shaped clear moisture shield is manufacturer marked “Mützenfabrik Alfred Valet Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt”. There is a paper tag inside the slot in the moisture shield which has the name of the owner which is very difficult to read. The brown leather sweatband is fully intact, showing moderate discoloration. The cap is a size 54. A sound example of a scarcely seen item!
