WWII German Luftwaffe "Other Ranks" Artillery Summer Visor Cap-This white topped peaked cap was permitted for use from April 1st through September 30th as part of the Luftwaffe summer uniform. Its top is removable for the purposes of laundering. Often, it was worn with the blue/grey tuchrock, waffenrock, and even the fliegerbluse. There is just the slightest hint of discoloration to the top, I am happy to say! There is no piping on the top of the cap (per regulations), what looks like white piping is just a raised seam. The 1.75” wide black center band is in great condition, with red piping on both the top and bottom edge. Just below this you will see the bottom section of the body, which is actually in the standard Luftwaffe blue/grey trikot wool. The leichtmetall insignia consists of a Luftwaffe eagle and the (one-piece) winged wreath with cockade. The finish remains excellent on each of these! The “Other Ranks” chincord is affixed to the cap by two small, black finished buttons. The black vulkanfibre visor has minor fading and is otherwise in great condition. The visor’s underside is black. It has a tan leather sweatband which has minor discoloration only. The interior is fully lined in white rayon that is excellent! There is an outline of a rhomboid shaped moisture shield but it has gone missing. The underside of the sweatband is ink stamped with the date 17.3.1938. It is a size 55. Condition wise, this is about as good as it gets with these!
