WWII German Army Model 1943 Field Cap, Named and Dated-This great cap is produced in field grey wool that shows wear and discoloration from use, a definite "been there" example. There is some fading to the color as well. The visor has the typical creases from when the soldier folded it up and put it over his belt or in his pocket. The side flaps terminate at the front of the cap, with two small pebbled green finished metal buttons. The "T" type insignia is hand applied. It is not applied as the "T" type, rather it is stitched around the entire backing of the insignia which was a common practice as well. It is machine woven (BeVo) with the eagle rendered in grey cloth over the green background and a red/white/black cockade. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. Here we see signs of a lot of use with some wear and discoloration present. It is named to "Fw. Lützel" so this is for an NCO with the equivalent rank of sergeant 1st class. Also seen is an RBNr., some unit markings and the date 1943. Finally, the size stamping which is 55. A great example!
