WWII German Allgemeine SS Visor Cap for "Other Ranks" Personnel-This great looking cap is produced in black trikot weave wool that is excellent. The white piping is fully intact and clean. The stiffening rings were removed so the cap is very flexible and has a great look. The center band is black badge cloth and in fine condition. The insignia is nickel silver plated tombak. The early, hussar type skull is original to the cap. It is tightly affixed and retains 70% of the finish. The eagle is an original piece that WE INSTALLED. You can clearly see the ghost of another, larger eagle but this M-29 type replacement looks the part until you find the correct one. The black patent leather chinstrap is in fine condition. One of the buttons is a replacement (incorrect silver pebbled metal). The black vulkanfibre visor is excellent, having just minor fading. The underside is stamped with the RZM SS ink stamp. The brown leather sweatband is soft and supple. It has been re-stitched at the front. There is some minor discoloration and wear from use. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. There is some discoloration and wear from use. There is a diamond shaped moisture shield with the runes underneath. There is a paper tag with a name in the slot of the moisture shield. This was obviously used by a movie house or was on display in a museum as it has many markings inside, some which have been crossed out. The RZM tag is present, underneath the sweatband. The maker is Adolf Ernst of Hannover (number 5). The cap is a size 57. A bargain at this price!
