German WWII Early Waffen SS “Other Ranks” Visor Cap- This example has a body of field gray wool that is in excellent condition, with the slightest hint of discoloration and tracking. The white cloth piping has minor discoloration but is otherwise ok. There is a black badge cloth center band that is issue free. The handsome, nickel silver finished insignia consists of an SS eagle and an early “Hussar” type jawless skull. Each has toned a bit, lending a very distinct look! Each remains tightly affixed to the cap. There is a black leather “other ranks” type chinstrap that is excellent and held in place by a pair of black finished metal buttons, the vulkanfibre visor is excellent, with barely a hint of crazing visible. The underside is finished in green and crosshatched. The visor has been professionally reattached to the cap. These were found together in a foot locker and we had it professionally put back in place. The interior is fully lined in tan/gold rayon that is in great condition with slight discoloration. There is a diamond shaped moisture shield that is fully intact. The green sweatband has a few tears, is separated from the cap in a few spots, and is quite stiff. It is all there though! Handwritten in ink onto the sweatband is “C-8.00.” The cap is a size 56. A very desirable example in near excellent condition overall!
