U-062  Documented Model 1944 SS Combat Tunic
If you like  items choice, mint, unissued, documented, and seldom encountered, then you really need to sit up and pay attention to this! For a complete photo collage, see this exact tunic pictured in color on pages 409 - 411 of the prestigious reference book entitled Uniforms of the Waffen-SS by Michael Beaver ( www.therupturedduck.com/WebPages/Books/bk9a.htm ).  These photos are found in Volume Two. This is an absolutely unissued example in every sense of the word. It must have been taken out of a factory, as it has just the machine applied, zig-zag stitched machine embroidered SS sleeve eagle and nothing else. The application was not of the highest quality, but we did not touch it or trim it since this would detract from the purity of the piece. The set up for the Model 1944 blouse was similar to the IKE jacket and has the two upper patch pockets.  All the green painted pebbled buttons are in place. This is such a gem, as there are many places where extra stitching - which normally would have been trimmed as part of the final process - is still in place! It is set up for slip-on boards. The end of the sleeves (at the cuff) have the slit and the single adjustment with blue/grey bakelite button. The approximate size 38 blouse has the partial ribbed grey rayon lining. It has two interior pockets with button closures. There is a cloth olive green strip to reinforce the areas where the buttons are attached and the buttonholes on the other interior flap. There are no markings at all, which is another testimony to its late production. An offering like this seldom comes along.
