H-226 HUGE Model 1935 Double Decal Luftwaffe
Helmet
This behemoth retains a solid 95% of its smooth finish of a very
light, matte shade of Luftwaffe blue/grey. The Luftwaffe eagle decal is almost
fully intact, but shows wear to both of the wings, looking like someone possibly
may have tried to clean it at one point. The tri-color shield remains
approximately 75% intact. The interior is choice! The medium brown leather
liner, which is size stamped 61, shows some very minor wear to the lower edge
but is otherwise mint. It retains a full-length drawstring and has the owners
name written in it. The non-reinforced aluminum liner band is manufacturer
marked and dated, 1937. The side of the interior of the shell is stamped SE 68,
indicating that this is in the largest production size available, 68, and that
it was manufactured by one of the less common makers, Sachsische Emailier-und
Stanzwerke, Lauter. There is even an excellent dark brown leather chinstrap with
an aluminum buckle that is manufacturer marked. A sound example, made even more
desirable by the size!
