H-180 Sound Model 1940 Waffen-SS Single Decal
Combat Helmet
This would be an appropriate match for a battle-hardened, salty
SS combat set up! It retains approximately 60% of its smooth textured dark
feldgrau finish. On the right side (as worn) the SS runic decal, of ET
manufacture, has toned nicely and remains approximately 70% intact. Much of the
missing amount is from the lower shield itself. Inside, there is a light brown
leather, size stamped 55 liner that has some wear and discoloration but is sound
overall. The liner band is a zinc non-reinforced example. The shell is stamped
on the side of the interior with the maker information and size, which is “ET
62”. This indicates manufacture by Eisenhuttenwerke in Thale in the shell size
of 62. The steel lot number, stamped at the rear of the skirt, is 917,
indicating the helmet was produced some time in 1941. A great stahlhelm for a
great price!
