FL-41  Interesting NSBO Standarte, Complete with Finial
The Nationalsozialistische Betriebszellenorganisation (N.S.B.O., or National Socialist Factory Cell Organization) was a worker’s organization in during the period of the Third Reich. This great grouping includes a Standarte for an Ort Level group of this organization that measures approximately 51.5” long by 45.5” tall. It has a red cloth field that is excellent with minor discoloration only. Each side has a separately applied white cloth disc (minor discoloration) and a multi-piece, black cloth swastika. Also seen is a black wool rectangle, measuring 10” long by 7.5” wide, at the top corner of each hoist end that has the script “N.S.D.A.P. Ortsgruppe Hausham N.S.B.O.” chain stitched in a white cloth thread. Hausham is a municipality in the District of Meisbach of Bavaria. These rectangles are trimmed with a white cloth in a rope twist pattern. The hoist end was originally equipped with a series of seven nickel/silver plated metal rings, three of these remain in place. Three sides of the Standarte are trimmed with a fancy silver twist fringe that has toned to a handsome dark hue. This is in near excellent condition with a few pulled strands. The final item in the group is, fittingly, a finial. It depicts a representation of the National emblem of the organization which is a human fist clenching a hammer (with a swastika) and a section of a cogwheel that has the initials “NSBO” on it. This is produced in a naturally finished aluminum and is maker marked “Arendt Sulzbach Op” and “ges gesch”. The finial mount is a simple round tube measuring approximately 4.5” long which is nickel/silver finished and holes for two set screws to mount onto a pole. A scarcely seen and quite desirable grouping! This is straight out of the proverbial woodwork.
