E-100a Three-Quarter Size DLV/1st Model Luftwaffe
Miniature Dagger by E. & F. Horster
As everyone is aware, the 1st Model Luftwaffe Miniature Dagger is a
SCARCE commodity! From time to time, you can find the 2nd Model Luftwaffe
Miniature Dagger and the Luftwaffe Miniature Sword, but this is NOT case with
the 1st Model Luftwaffe Miniature Dagger. This piece measures
approximately 9.5” in overall length (Volume II, page 383, upper). The
silver plating grades 100%! Unusual find here! In addition, all the
fittings have a very attractive, matching patina. This pommel and
crossguard exhibit vaulted sunwheel swastikas with 100% of the gilded wash
remaining. VERY nice! The blue grip grades mint having ten rib
segments that flow downward from right to left. It is tightly wrapped with
a single twisted silver wire. The 6.25” blade has a mirror-like
appearance, grading mint-. The edges and tip remain crisp. The
reverse ricasso is etched with the double oval trademark of this company.
Within the circles is trapped the firm’s name and location E. & F. Horster
/ Solingen. Centered inside is the large H with the smaller HS pierced by
a sword. There is NO blue leather washer attached to the blade. The
scabbard is the all metal style, having a pebbled pattern to simulate the grain
of leather which is painted with a very attractive blue paint, grading 99%.
There are two tiny chips missing to the upper obverse side. The scabbard
fittings have the simulated, large staple retaining method (Volume II, page 383,
upper). The fittings show NO wear/age, grading mint. Accompanying
the dagger is a Detlev Niemann Certificate of Guarantee of Authenticity. A
MUST for the SERIOUS Luftwaffe or Miniature collector! Mint-.
