German Army WWII Officer’s Sword “Wrangel Model 1693” by Eickhorn- This early example measures approximately 38 inches in length. This is the Eickhorn patent 1693 from the desirable Field Marshall series. This model is referred to as the “Wrangel.” It was named after “Frederich Heinrich Ernst Graf von Wrangel” who was born on 4/13/1784 and died on 11/2/1877. He was a Generalfeldmarschall in the Prussian Army. This is a dove head sword with heavily gilted finish to the “P” guard and hilt. The languet has the left facing German eagle with outstretched wings. The black celluloid grip has triple silver wire is excellent and has great toning to the wire. The original scabbard paint remains 80% intact on the scabbard. The blade has the 1935-41 Eickhorn squirrel. This is in full excellent, top shelf condition. This is also marked Ges.Gesch underneath the crossguard. A very good example of this Field Marshall 1693 sword.
